I recently created a series of graphics and LinkedIn posts with some ideas about how to better support the nonprofit workforce. A stronger, healthier nonprofit workforce matters: it will elevate nonprofits’ efficacy and enhance the social sector. I am sharing these posts as a series on my blog and encourage you to comment and share!

As nonprofit management guru Peter Drucker famously said, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”

In 20 years of nonprofit consulting, I’ve seen lots of approaches to gratitude.

🙏 Some organizations are authentically grateful, some not so much.
🙏 Some organizations really focus on showing gratitude to their donors, others only to the high-dollar donors.
🙏 Some nonprofits are wonderful about showing gratitude to all of their donors and volunteers! But showing gratitude to their employees? What’s that?

An authentic, meaningful culture of gratitude means that gratitude extends to everyone affiliated with the organization and the work: clients, board members, donors, volunteers, organizational partners, and yes… employees.

Sometimes saying “thank you” is not the same thing as developing an authentic organizational culture of gratitude.

What are some of the great approaches to gratitude that you’ve seen and/or experienced at nonprofit organizations? How are those organizations showing gratitude to their employees? I mean, REALLY walking the gratitude talk?
